Click here to ask a question about Social Security

Dear Friend:

As the Social Security debate continues in Washington, D.C., I invite you to join me for the first online town hall for Missouri’s 1st Congressional District to discuss this critical issue.  Please mark your calendars for Monday, July 11, 2005 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. CST (8:00 – 9:00 p.m. EST).

Social Security is a safety net that provides an invaluable guarantee and protects retirees, survivors, disabled individuals, workers, and families from outliving their savings.  Social Security is the foundation for a secure retirement and Congress must work in a bipartisan manner to make Social Security permanently solvent.

Social Security benefits have never been subject to risk and Congress can not afford to gamble with Social Security. Your perspective on this issue truly helps me serve you better, and I look forward to answering any questions that you might have.

If you will be unable to join me, feel free to submit a question prior to the town hall and check back after July 11th to view a transcript.

Thank you and I hope you will join me in this important discussion about how we can work to preserve and protect Social Security for generations to come.

Sincerely,

Wm. Lacy Clay
Member of Congress
